Edison & Ford Winter Estates
Set up to preserve the home, botanical gardens, and laboratory of Thomas Edison as well as the home of Henry Ford, the Edison & Ford Winter Estate will transport you back in time. When you visit "Seminole Lodge," built in you enter a world unlike any you have ever seen. The furnishings and architecture of these gracious, rambling buildings are reminiscent of a bygone era, yet the inventive genius of Edison is evident throughout his 14-acre riverfront estate.

Shell Factory and Nature Park
If it’s fun you’re seeking then the Shell Factory and Nature Park has something for everyone. Kids big and small will enjoy water wars, miniature golf and the Bumper Boat lagoon. The newly renovated nature park and petting zoo provides hands on educational experience that young and old will enjoy, with over 200 animals for you to get to know. For the shopaholics the Shell Factory have the largest collection of common and rare seashells, sponges, coral, fossils and sea life specimens in the world.

The Calusa Nature Center and Planetarium
Visitors to the Calusa Nature Center and Planetarium learn about Southwest Florida's diverse natural history. Join staff for a casual walk through the woods to enjoy the daily educational programs that allow visitors to get an up close and personal view of some of the centers resident creatures, including snakes, alligators, skunks and white tail deer. The Calusa Nature Center includes a 1,000 sq. ft. screened aviary which is home to 30 different species of Florida butterflies which leads into the Audubon bird aviary. The stars are always out in the Planetarium, which is the only one south of Bradenton and west of the Miami!
