The Ernest Hemingway Home and Museum
Nestled in the heart of Old Town Key West is the Ernest Hemingway Home and Museum, for ten years home to one of the country’s most honored and respected authors. Step back in time to the Nobel Prize winning author’s most prolific writing period, enter the studio and see his desk and the Royal typewriter where he worked on many of his most famous works such as “To Have and To Have Not” & ” and “For Whom The Bell Tolls”. The house still contains the furniture that Hemingway and his family used and is an eclectic mix from their travels ranging from an exquisite hand blown chandelier from the island of Murano, near Venice, Italy to trophy heads from Hemingway’s days in Africa. Today the house is home to more than 60 cats some of whom are descended from a six toed cat given to Hemingway by a ship's captain.

Key West Shipwreck Museum
With the words “Wreck Ashore” you are transported back in time to 1856 and the era of the wreckers. Discover how due to Key West’s unique maritime heritage it became the richest city in the United States. During the golden age of sail an average of one ship a week would come aground on the treacherous reefs around the Keys. The Key West Shipwreck Museum seamlessly recreates that lost time using actors, film and artifacts to create a unique visitor experience.

Theater of The Sea
Ever wanted to swim with a dolphin, play games with a sea lion or interact with the magnificent southern stingrays? At one of the oldest marine mammal facilities in the world you can experience all that and more. The Theatre of the Sea is steeped in the History of the Keys; its lagoon was originally one of the quarry’s that supplied rock for Henry Flagler’s railroad in the early 1900’s, but it was not until 1946 that the McKenney family established the park. Journey back to a time of pirates, Indians and English settlers on the Adventure and Snorkel Cruise, a 4 hour adventure which highlights include the Matheson House in Lignumvitae Key Botanical State Park, learn about Indians, Spanish Explorers, wreckers, and pirates at Indian Key Historic State Park, before dawning masks, fins, snorkels, vests and exploring the undersea world for yourself.

Harry S. Truman Little White House Museum
This historic building first served as the winter White House of President Harry S. Truman in 1946 when he used it for rest and recreation after World War II. It continued as a site for the Cold War response by later presidents. Formally the command headquarters of the naval station during the Spanish American War, World War I and World War II, the house is now a living museum as well as a retreat and place of government business by our nation's leaders.
