You enter MGM Studios through the world-famous Hollywood Boulevard which is lined with shops for browsing. First stop is the Indiana Jones Stunt Spectacular where Indy and Marion reenact fight scenes from the original movie in this fast-paced movie stunt show. Then enter the Star Wars galaxy as you ride Star Tours, an exciting flight simulator. Hope that the force is with you as you dodge meteors in an intergalactic battle.
Jim Henson’s Muppet Vision 3-D show brings Kermit and friends to life featuring top animatronics. Find your inner child as you wander through the oversized backyard in the Honey, I Shrunk The Kids Movie Set Adventure.
The latest addition to MGM Studios is the Lights, Motors, Action! Extreme Stunt Show, imported from Disneyland Paris which features incredible motoring stunts in specially-adapted cars that will make you wonder how they do it. But do not fear, all is revealed before the end of the show. Look out for everyone’s favorite, Herbie, who makes a flying visit.
Not to be missed is the MGM Studios Backlot Tour, an insight into the world of movie-making where lucky members of the audience are picked to take part in a scene from Pearl Harbor. Before the tour sets off, check out the props store area. You then board the tram which takes you through the boneyard. There lies the helicopter from Blue Thunder, Star Wars vehicles and the plane Walt Disney used to find the land for Walt Disney World. The tour then continues through Catastrophe Canyon where you get up close and personal with a movie special effects scene before returning to base.
If you’ve ever shouted at the television in frustration then Who Wants To Be A Millionaire is for you. Put your fastest finger forward and play the game. For those of you needing a break, why not join Ariel and friends under the sea in the Voyage of the Little Mermaid, a 17 minute live theatre show.
Immerse yourself in the movies on the Great Movie Ride as you relive some of Hollywood’s classic scenes.
Next come the park’s two big attractions, the Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster and the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror, two great rides side by side. Hang with the band Aerosmith in a high-speed limo ride through darkened streets on the way to their gig. Then scream in terror as you enter the Hollywood Tower Hotel. The cables of your elevator snap, sending you plunging thirteen stories into the Twilight Zone.
A day at the park is not complete without seeing Disney’s spectacular show Fantasmic where Sorcerer Mickey battles villains in this unique show of lasers, dancing water and dazzling effects.
