Live the Adventure at Universal’s Islands of Adventure theme park
where state-of-the-art technology is uniquely combined with
storytelling and adventure. Opened in 1999 this 110-acre theme park
features five spectacularly themed islands, all with one-of-a-kind
rides, attractions, shows, shops and restaurants, imaginatively themed
to each particular island. Academy Award-winning producer/director
Steven Spielberg acted as creative consultant for Islands of Adventure
ensuring that it is home to some of the most thrilling and
technologically advanced rides and attractions ever made.
The first land you come to after entering the park is Marvel Super Hero
Island where Marvel’s super heroes and villains are forever caught in
an epic battle. Here you find the awesome Incredible Hulk coaster which
accelerates you from 0-40mph in 2 seconds as you are catapulted 110ft
in the air, turned upside down and sent plummeting down a terrifying
105ft drop. With several other twists, turns and drops, this ride
really has to be one of the best in Florida.
For those still standing Dr Doom’s Fearfall awaits. This diabolical
devise catapults riders 185ft in the air before plunging them back down
to earth faster than gravity itself. Pass then to the Amazing
Adventures of Spider-Man, probably the ultimate 3-D ride. Joining the
Daily Bugle as a cub reporter, you venture out into the streets in
search of a story when Spider-Man lands on the hood of your car. He
warns you to watch out as the streets can be dangerous. Soon you find
yourself battling Dr Octopus and his evil henchmen in an edge of your
seat three-dimensional spectacular.
The next land, Toon Lagoon is a delightful land is where everyone’s
favorite cartoon characters live when they are not in the pages of the
Sunday comics. Home to Universal’s water rides join Canadian Mountie
Dudley Do-Right, on Dudley Do-Right’s Ripsaw Falls as he rushes to save
Nell from the evil clutches of Snidely Whiplash, rocket over the
waterfall in this wild and wet flume ride. Land in the middle of Popeye
and Bluto’s age old conflict as you ride the white water rafts on
Popeye & Bluto’s Bilge-Rat Barges. A word of caution: when it says
you will get wet, you will really get wet. But the rides are worth the
soaking, although you may wish to consider taking a change of clothes!
In Jurassic Park you will come face to face to history. Experience the
sights and sounds of a prehistoric world. Examine fossilized skeletons
and dinosaur eggs in the Discovery Center or soar through the trees on
the Pteranoden Flyers. The brave-hearted can ride the Jurassic Park
River Adventure, a leisurely raft ride through the backwaters of
Jurassic Park allowing the curious to see and be seen by friendly
dinosaurs, until something goes terribly wrong, placing guests
face-to-face with a gigantic T-Rex.
The mythical Lost Continent is where myths and legends become reality
featuring three sections: one based on ancient Greece with temples and
crumbling ruins, the second resembling a bustling North African bazaar
and the third a medieval English village from the days of King Arthur.
Home to the Dueling Dragons, fire and ice opposing coasters that go
head to head in a battle that twists, turns and loops across the sky,
creating three “near-miss” moments when the cars come within 12 inches
of each other.
Water and pyrotechnics come together in a stunning show in Poseidon’s
Fury but mind you don’t get trapped in the ancient temple. For those
still wanting more, the Eighth Voyage of Sindbad is an action-packed
stunt show for all the family, as Sindbad attempts to rescue the
beautiful Princess Amoura from the evil witch Miseria.
The Seuss Landing will fuel the imagination of younger visitors with
its magical, mysterious creatures and rides. Ride a moving couch
through the pages of Dr. Seuss’ “The Cat in the Hat” meeting the worlds
most mischievous feline on The Cat In The Hat. On One Fish Two Fish Red
Fish Blue Fish riders steer their fish through a circular obstacle
course of playfully squirting fountains.
Located in – and above – Seuss Landing, is Islands of Adventures latest
attraction the High In The Sky Seuss Trolley Train Ride. Guests board
trains created to resemble something straight from a Seuss book.
Coasting along tracks rising 20 feet in the air they wind their way
through seven specially-created scenes based on Dr. Seuss stories.
