You will know that you are in for an unusual experience when you visit the amazing world of Robert Ripley, at Ripley’s Believe It or Not! Orlando Odditorium, the building it’s self appears to be falling into a Florida sinkhole. If you think the building looks bizarre… wait till you see what’s inside.
Ripley’s Believe It or Not, is inspired by the life of Robert Ripley who some have dubbed “The Modern Day Marco Polo”. Ripley’s travels took him to all the corners of the world in search of the strange and bizarre. He was a talented self-taught artist who sold his first drawings to Life magazine at the age of 14 and a natural athlete who dreamed of a career in baseball. His dreams were shattered when he broke his arm while playing in his first professional game, forcing him to return to his earlier career as an artist.
His desire for travel became his lifelong obsession visiting 198 countries traveling a distance equal to 18 trips round the world.
The Orlando Odditorium boasts 16 unique galleries of weird and unusual relics and rare treasures, marvel at the amazing variety of artifacts, exhibits and displays paying tribute to the odd, bizarre and unbelievable. The self-guided self-paced tour enables you to take as much time as you like enjoying the many fascinating exhibits.
Highlights include an actual human shrunken head, an exciting dinosaur exhibit, complete with dinosaur skull and authentic dinosaur eggs, an Egyptian mummy.
