Gainesville is home to the University of Florida, ranked among the five largest universities in the country, with a student population of 47,000. The football team officially used Gatorade in 1967, going on to win their first Orange Bowl title when they defeated Georgia Tech, whose coach stated that the Gators won because they had Gatorade and his team did not.
